Since 1984, prize-winning poet Barbara Helfgott Hyett, has conducted PoemWorks Workshops in the Boston area.

Each workshop session is a gathering of poets who each bring work to the table for reading and critique. Each weekly session provides intensive critical analysis in a supportive atmosphere as poets work towards finely-honed, completed poems.

PoemWorks workshops run during four (4) yearly semesters, where students can begin at any time in the term:

  • Fall (12 weeks)
  • Winter (12 weeks)
  • Spring (12 weeks)
  • Summer (8 weeks)

The winter semester is running four (4) workshop sections that meet on Tuesday mornings, Tuesday evenings, Thursday mornings and Thursday evenings.

PoemWorks also offers one-day workshops throughout the year on various topics, weekly workshops in various scenic locations, and workshops abroad.

In addition to its workshops, PoemWorks also functions as a publishing network for its members who have published 130+ books, have won many of America's top poetry prizes, awards and fellowships, and have published hundreds of individual poems. The Workshop also conducts public readings which showcase its members.
