Come away to Newfoundland, the far east of North America, to write with Barbara Helfgott Hyett and PoemWorks, the Workshop for Publishing Poets!
Enjoy a week of generative classes and poetry workshops as we venture across Newfoundland’s Avalon Peninsula, from the capital city of St. John’s and its jellybean painted rowhouses, to North America’s largest Atlantic Puffin colony at Witless Bay; these chilly waters are the summer feeding grounds for Humpback Whales. Then it’s on to the cliffs of Cape Saint Mary’s where atop the sea stacks sits the world-renowned Gannet colony. We’ll travel to northern Conception Bay to the coastal town of Ochre Pit Cove for five days at Ochre House to write at the seaside retreat along the famed Baccalieu Trail. We may even see icebergs as they drift through the month of June from Greenland down along the rugged coastline.
Cost per participant is $1175 which includes:
- all classes and workshops
- 7 days’ and 6 nights’ accommodations
- 7 breakfasts
- 3 lunches
- 5 dinners
- excursions to whales and bird colonies
(Some space for nonwriting partners remains: $925 per person)
