Amy Clay
After submitting her first poem to Highlights magazine at age 6, Amy Clay informed her parents that she was going to be a famous writer when she grew up. Though not famous (nor grown-up) yet, her life-long passion for writing has been a beacon and an outlet for expressing her experience of the world she lives in. That world is full of creativity and interesting people who inspire her. Amy is both a performing and visual artist as well. Poems often accompany paintings, which then morph into song and dance. As the recipient of several grants and awards, she has been blessed by opportunities to teach her multi-modality approach to writing all over the United States. She credits poet Peter Richards of Harvard University with helping her find her voice, which is often described as "raw, edgy, and honest." Most recently published in The Charles River Review, the next leg of her journey includes final revisions of her first book of poetry, Wanderlust, and a ballet titled 30 Dirty Redheads, sponsored by Clairol and inspired by her poem of the same title. Amy can often be spotted in the Arnold Arboretum in sequins with a guitar, journal, and her 8-pound chihuahua, Lupé Chavez. Originally from Greenville, Mississippi, she now resides in Boston where she is the proprietor of Home Teem Productions and a budding gardener.
